Bruce Marcus - HBS Club of New York
Club President
What is your role in the Club and how long have you been involved in the Club?
President of the HBS Club of New York. I've been involved with the Club for 5 years.
What is your present job/career?
I am primarily a television producer, producing PBS pledge and lifestyle programming. In addition, I am a consultant to non-profits in the areas of strategic planning, marketing and development.
What is your most memorable Club experience so far?
My most memorable Club experience is actually the planning and preparation for our Club's Centennial Social Enterprise Summit. The anticipation of this unique New York event, combined with the commitment, enthusiasm and hard work of our volunteer Summit Committee, has been something special to watch and be a part of.
Why do you volunteer your time as a Club officer?
I volunteer my time for a couple of reasons: first, I have a strong belief in HBS's continuing mission to support alumni education, networking and "giving back" to the community; and second, I thoroughly enjoy working on these goals with numerous other HBS alums--with varied backgrounds and experiences.
How have the alumni in New York benefited from the Club?
Whether they take advantage of it or not, the New York area alumni continue to have an extensive number and wide range of opportunities to maintain best business practices, and to stay involved with HBS, its alumni, and its continuing goal of "educating leaders who make a difference."
What do you miss most about HBS?
I miss most the interaction with the professors. I've realized this more and more as I've come to Boston each month to moderate the on-going Centennial Virtual Learning Series which continues to feature HBS professors.
