Kevin Hanks - HBS Club of Dallas
Club President
What is your role in the Club and how long have you been involved in the Club?
I am now President after organizing our annual charity gala for the past two years and a job search panel in 2005. I have been active in the Dallas club since moving here in 2003, having previously been a member of the Tampa and Boston clubs.
What is your present job/career?
I am a Consulting CFO with vcfo, a professional services firm that provides CFOs and controllers on a project or interim basis. I work primarily with entrepreneurs and business owners who need strategic financial guidance around capital raising, business planning, and M&A.
What is your most memorable Club experience so far?
Our Gala last spring was held at a stunning Dallas home that helped draw a great crowd, including Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert, who is also an HBS alum, and raised $20,000 for two local non-profit organizations. It was a very successful event despite the difficult economic environment and our members had a memorable evening.
Why do you volunteer your time as a Club officer?
I enjoy developing unique programs and finding ways to involve more people. We are hoping to extend the range of Club activities and the impact we have in the community.
How have the alumni in Dallas benefited from the Club?
They have had access to many interesting business and Harvard personalities and developed traditions such as the charity gala. This year we are also seeing more participation and social events among recent graduates through the leadership of designated class reps.
What do you miss most about HBS?
Having the opportunity to explore challenging ideas with really bright people without the burden of execution.
